Consciousness raising, legends, and some Buddhist teachings...

Chapter 08
Domain Three
STORY
We begin with the story of Boca, a young indigenous man, who was about to be court-martialed. The event turned into a reenactment of Australia’s long simmering racism, as Boca tried to honor his tribal traditions and to gain acceptance within an all-white establishment
WISDOM LITERATURE
We will draw upon three complex but useful psychological aids: consciousness-raising, legends, and some Buddhist teachings.
SUMMARY
  • The truths found in a legend are wellsprings of abundance,
  • Belongingness grows as adversaries affirm their mutual angsts.
  • Here and there are the same, for upon reaching there we are still in a here state.
  • A legend has meaning if it resonates with the truths in us.
  • Profound solutions are simple.
  • Being a part of and apart from a place creates both aloneness and belongingness.
  • Belonging and aloneness create each other.
  • The union of aloneness and belonging leads to abundance.
  • Our Self changes when we alter our relatedness to others.
  • Altering the meanings we attach to thoughts and emotions increases abundance.
MUSIC
REFLECTIONS
